Bryan Davies and his family welcomed Wyatt, a beautiful rescue cat, into their hearts and homes a few months ago. It didn’t take long for the inquisitive kitten to find his new favorite pastime.
“Wyatt enjoys looking out the window at birds and squirrels,” Davies told The Dodo.
Rather than making Wyatt wait for birds and squirrels to emerge, Davies chose to be inventive.
During the winter months, when animals were less likely to visit Wyatt’s observation locations, Davies found a way to supplement the cat’s preferred kind of amusement. He scoured the internet for bird footage and presented them to Wyatt on a tablet.
“We resorted to YouTube, and he just enjoyed it,” Davies explained.
Wyatt now had his own personal television. Davies, on the other hand, wanted to offer him something even more special: his own small room to watch it in.
Davies had seen a vacant area along a wall near his bedroom during a recent refurbishment of his property. That made him think.
“It was the ideal location for an even tinier bedroom in our tiny bedroom in our tiny home,” Davies explained. “So I ripped up the wall and began redecorating.”
It was all for Wyatt.
Davies completed the little space by furnishing it with a small cat bed and other necessities.
The little room came together beautifully.
Davies even decorated the walls with small works of art that he felt Wyatt would love.
Davies added the finishing touch by mounting his cat’s TV to a wall, allowing him to watch his favorite shows – animal footage — in the comfort of his own small home.
It was then time to show Wyatt. What was the cat’s reaction?
“He adores it,” Davies explained.
Davies confesses that he wasn’t sure if Wyatt would use the little room he made for him. However, it immediately became the cat’s favorite spot.
“He spends a lot of time in there, asking to watch his show before napping,” Davies explained. “He’s like any other adolescent, zoning out in front of the television. And he naps a lot. He enjoys it just as much as a youngster who has finally gotten his own room.”
Of course, Wyatt does not spend his entire time in the room. However, he seemed to love having a specific spot to call his own.
Davies felt that the time and work he put into creating a little place for his family’s cat was well worth it. After all, Wyatt means everything to them.
“He’s our best buddy,” Davies explained.
